Woodend Volunteer Fire Brigade
The Woodend Volunteer Fire Brigade is 100% voluntary staffed from residents of Woodend and Pegasus Town. The brigade has 5 response vehicles including one fire engine, one tanker and 3 support vehicles. Woodend VFB responds to a variety of emergencies from Pineacres Corner through to Ashworths Beach Road and halfway to Rangiora, including Sefton and calls range from fires, motor vehicle accidents, medical co-responses, fire alarm activations, civil defence emergencies and even to the occasional animal rescue! The brigade was also very active during the Canterbury Earthquakes and Port Hills Fires and we regularly back-up various North Canterbury brigades when required. Training night for members is a Monday night at 1900 but occasional trainings occur during weekends as well. Woodend VFB is very active on Facebook and you can see what the brigade has been up to, along with a bit of insight into what being a firefighter really is all about.
